Friends and Citizens
In those infrequent moments when the world teeters on the brink of upheaval, the clandestine forces of the Guardians and Auxiliary have sometimes stepped into the public eye, subtly calling for aid in an hour of desperate necessity. We find ourselves in the throes of such a moment. Nations, once great and united, now stand fractured, their peoples' loyalties split not by national identity, but by ideological factions. This, coupled with the relentless march of technological surveillance, has left Phy Kal's mission in a precarious balance.
Barely visible in the twilight of secrecy, Phylax Kallipolis wields the capacity to mold society, yet this ability is hedged by the unbroken veil of mystery held by its members. Across the annals of time, both Guardians and Auxiliary, as well as those dear to them, have found themselves in the crosshairs of relentless pursuit, leading to their captivity or, in the most tragic instances, their assassination.
The forms of assistance have been as varied as the epochs they've bridged, yet they are generally categorized into five distinctive tiers.
The followers of Phy Kal are assigned to these strata:
- Philos - The Friend: Those who have shaped society or politics, driven by principles akin to those of Phy Kal, may find themselves graced with the title of Philos Kallipolis. This individual could be a political figure, a champion against corruption, a voice for the populace, and yet entirely unaware of the existence of Phylax Kallipolis. Furthermore, those offering their support to Phy Kal, whether through the dissemination of its doctrines or through financial backing, can also earn this title.
- Hetairos - The Comrade: Akin to the Philos, the Hetairos also extend their support to Phy Kal by amplifying its ideals or providing financial assistance, but with a higher level of commitment.
- Symmachos - The Ally: Typically, this represents the pinnacle of recognition for supporters without a clear dedication to Phy Kal. This distinction is usually reserved for individuals offering significant financial backing. Such supporters are kept under close observation to ward off potential infiltration by enemies of Phy Kal. However, if such individuals prove to be unwavering advocates after a period of scrutiny, they might be approached for continued assistance, be it their unique skills, valuable connections, or other resources.
- Didaskalos - The Teacher: These are Philos, Hetairos, and Symmachos who have unearthed historical proof endorsing the cause or have intentionally and accurately propagated Phy Kal's tenets to instigate societal and political change. They are recognized as Didaskalos. Those who project their messages through the digital sphere are awarded a digital emblem, an endorsement of their alignment with Phy Kal's cause. These restricted lines of communication are generally one-sided, conferred upon a select group.
- Kalos Polites - The Excellent Citizen: As a senior-ranking Kalos Polites, I occupy this top tier. These individuals have demonstrated an unshakable commitment to the cause. Only the most eminent Symmachos or Didaskalos, or those who have rendered crucial resources or services, are granted this honor. These revered Citizens are the exclusive group with whom Phy Kal communicates directly. Moreover, if they express their message via digital means, they are awarded a digital emblem, an outward sign of their alignment with Phy Kal.
Ascending beyond the rank of a 7th-degree Kalos Polites is an event of utmost rarity. For an adult, the chance of becoming an Auxiliary is slim. Traditionally, these posts are held by those with the privilege of lineage, born into the families of Guardians or Auxiliary. This practice has served as a protective measure, a safeguarding tradition for Phylax Kallipolis, spanning over a thousand years.
Guardianship is not an appointed role; it is a birthright. One of the chief mandates of Phylax Kallipolis is to discern potential Guardians and extend to them the opportunity to serve. These individuals stand out as exceptional, bearing physical characteristics that mark them, displaying profound psychological attributes of humility and justice. In many instances, they exhibit at least one extraordinary talent, a prowess that sets them apart, far beyond the grasp of ordinary humans.
